Guitar Shorty
"Defiant, electric blues with piercing intensity and raw venom that’ll leave your ears singed" --Chicago Tribune When David William Kearney was only 17, he joined Walter Johnson's Florida-based blues band. Because he was a bit vertically challenged, a club owner started calling him Guitar Shorty. The name stuck, and the young musician drew the attention of legends including Willie Dixon and Otis Rush. Ray Charles hired him for his road band, and he performed with B.B. King, Sam Cooke, T-Bone Walker and Johnny "Clyde" Copeland. Shorty
recently kicked off a national tour to promote his brand new Alligator
CD, Bare Knuckle. Credited with influencing both Jimi Hendrix and Buddy
Guy, Shorty has been electrifying audiences for five decades with his
supercharged live shows and his incendiary recordings (beginning in
1957 with a Willie Dixon-produced single on the Cobra label) $10 cover

Eddie Turner
Eddie Turner is no axman-come-lately. When the late Tommy Bolin decided to leave Zephyr circa the early '70s, Turner took his place -- and he subsequently played guitar for the Legendary 4-Nikators and bluesman supreme Otis Taylor, whose 1996-2003 platters gained much of their power from Turner's searing riffs. "Cuban-born, Chicago-bred" Eddie Turner has evolved as one of the hottest genre-melding contemporary blues artists. A statement solidified by a 2006 Blues Music Award nomination for Best New Artist Debut. His ethereal style is an amalgam of the Afro-Cuban rhythms of his heritage and the music that influenced him as a teenager: Chicago blues, jazz, r&b and psychedelic rock.
“A monster guitar player - reminds me of my good friend, Jimi.” ~Stephen
